Leukemia

Characteristics
  • Leukemia is a malignancy hematopoietic stem cells.
  • Acute cases usually occur in children and chronic cases in patients aged 25-60 years.
  • Signs and symptoms are: splenomegaly, hemorrhage, bone pain, gingivitis, loose teeth and mucosal ulcerations.
  • Radiographic changes are most common in the acute type. Generalized radiolucency of the jaw bones, periapical radiolucencies with ill defined borders, teeth displacement, loss of lamina dura and crestal bone as well as widening of the periodontal ligament space, are occasionally observed.
