Osteochondroma
Characteristics
- It is the most common benign tumor of the TMJ.
- Most common between 20 and 30 years old.
- It is a bone mass originating from the cortex where limited mouth opening and jaw deviation to contralateral side can occur.
- Facial asymmetry and malocclusion often develops in patients with osteochondroma.
- Radiographic Properties: Radio-opaque mass that normally extends from the anterio-medial side of the maxilla to the tendon lateral to the pterygoid.
