Osteoma and exostoses

Characteristics
  • Benign lesion of the bone.
  • Two types: cortical and cancellous (spongy).
  • Most common sites: mandible (condyle, angle, ramus,molar region) and frontal sinus.
  • Usually painless, incidental finding.

Differential diagnosis

Cases

Two osteomas, one peripheral on the lingual foramen and the other on the body of the mandible.

A case of osteoma.

Case of buccal exostoses in the upper and lower jaw. They are benign, broad-based surface masses. Generally buccal exostoses require no treatment.
