Osteoma and exostoses Characteristics Benign lesion of the bone. Two types: cortical and cancellous (spongy). Most common sites: mandible (condyle, angle, ramus,molar region) and frontal sinus. Usually painless, incidental finding. Differential diagnosis Condensing osteitis Idiopathic osteosclerosis (dense bone island) Odontoma (radiopacity) Sclerosing Osteomyelitis Cases Case 1Case 2Case 3Case 1 Two osteomas, one peripheral on the lingual foramen and the other on the body of the mandible. Case 2 A case of osteoma. Case 3 Case of buccal exostoses in the upper and lower jaw. They are benign, broad-based surface masses. Generally buccal exostoses require no treatment.
