Characteristics
  • Systemic autoimmune disease.
  • It is a chronic inflammatory disease of the connective tissue that affects many joints. Small peripheral joints of the hand and foot are affected first.
  • TMG symptoms are usually minimal.
  • Female to male ratio is approx. 3: 1
  • Radiographic properties are usually bilateral and symmetrical.
  • Radiographic properties: smoothing, erosion, resorption and sclerosis of the jaw head. Decreased temporomandibular joint space. Anteriore open bite.
