Extrinsic odontogenic cysts

Features

  • Odontogenic cysts associated with upper posterior teeth such as: radicular, residual and dentigerous cysts.
  • Radiographic features: Round, dome-shaped opacity in the base of the antrum with a well- defined radiopaque margin. Large cysts can cause total opacity of the antral region and displacement of the associated tooth.

Cases

Radicular cyst. The corticated outline of the sinus floor is elevated (the antral halo effect). Mucosal thickening.

Large odontogenic cyst caused total opacity of the right antrum and osteomeatal complex obstruction. Postoperative image showing no abnormal findings.
