Pulp stones .

  • Pulp stones are foci of calcification in the dental pulp.
  • Their cause is unknown and they vary in size, with some as large as 2 or 3 mm in diameter, almost filling the pulp chamber.
  • They may appear in a single tooth or several teeth.
  • The radiographic appearance is quite variable. They may be seen as round or oval radiopaque masses within the pulp chamber or root canals.
  • No treatment is required. Endodontic treatment may be complicated when large pulp stones are present.
