Features

  • Systemic autoimmune disorder.
  • It is a chronic inflammatory, connective tissue disease affecting many joints. Small peripheral joints of the hands and feet are affected first.
  • TMJ symptoms are usually minor.
  • Females:males is about 3:1
  • Radiographic features are usually bilateral and symmetrical.
  • Radiographic features: Flattening, erosion, resorption and sclerosis of the head of the condyle. Reduced joint space. Anterior open bite.
