Idiopathic osteosclerosis (dense bone island) .
- It is a benign condition characterized by a localized area of increased bone density (sclerosis) in the jaw, that has no known cause.
- Most common location is the mandible.
- It is always asymptomatic and is discovered incidentally during radiographic examination.
- Radiographically, it is a circumscribed radiopacity with well defined borders in any region of the jaw.
- Treatment is not necessary.
