Traumatic lesions of maxillary sinus .

  • Oroantral communication is an abnormal space  that forms between the maxillary sinus and the oral cavity following extraction of maxillary posterior teeth, infection, or several other complications.
  • Radiographic features: interruption in the continuity of the floor of maxillary sinus and the characteristics of an acute or chronic sinusitis of the antrum.
  • Fractures of the maxillofacial region
  • Radiographic features: interruption in the continuity of one or more walls of the antrum depending on the type of fracture. Opacity or air-liquid level in the antrum.
  • A classic blow-out fracture causes tear-shaped opacity in the upper part of the antrum
