Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (radiopacity) .

  • Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia is a benign condition that usually involves multiple quadrants of the jaws.
  • The lesions are often bilaterally and symmetrically positioned and are associated with the apices of the teeth, if present.
  • It is clinically the most extensive and diffuse form of periapical cemental dysplasia.
  • The adjacent teeth are typically vital, not displaced and not resorbed.

Radiographic appearance

  • Early stage: Radiolucent lesion but not corticated.
  • Intermediate stage: Radiopacities within the apical radiolucencies.
  • Late stage: Densely radiopaque lesion surrounded by a thin radiolucent line.
