Lateral periodontal cyst .

  • It is a developmental odontogenic cyst. It arises from remnants of the dental lamina or from the reduced enamel epithelium.
  • Typically found along the lateral surface of the root of a tooth with a vital pulp. The mandibular premolar and canine region are the most common sites.
  • It is usually asymptomatic.
  • Radiographically, appears as a small unilocular, round or oval radiolucency (less than 1 cm in diameter) with well-defined and usually well corticated borders.
