Ameloblastoma (multilocular) .
- Benign but locally aggressive odontogenic tumor. It normally grows slowly as a painless swelling of the affected side.
- It may occur at any age but usually at the third to sixth decades.
- It invades locally the surrounding bone.
- 80-95% are found in the mandible (posterior region and ramus ). In the maxilla usually in the premolar or molar region.
- The small lesions are unilocular. Larger lesions may become multilocular (with soap bubbles or honeycomb appearance).
- Adjacent teeth are often displaced and resorbed.
- It causes extensive bone expansion.
- Incomplete removal of the lesion may result in recurrence.
