Characteristics
  • It is an infection of the soft tissue surrounding the crown of a partially erupted tooth.
  • Most common in the lower third molars
  • In chronic cases, a sclerosing margin of the radiolucency can be seen, usually distally of the partially erupted tooth.
  • Usually the diameter is less than 5 mm.
