- Leukemia is a malignant neoplasm of hematopoietic tissue due to the indiscriminate proliferation of leukocytes in the bone marrow.
- Acute cases usually occur in children and chronic cases in patients aged 25-60 years.
- Clinical signs and symptoms: splenomegaly, bone pain, gingival bleeding, gingival tissue hyperplasia, mucosal ulcers.
- Radiographic changes are more common in the acute phase and consist of: early tooth loss, loss of lamina dura, periosteal bone formation and multiple radiolucencies.
