Periapical granuloma .

  • Is the most common type of pathological radiolucencies in the jaws (more than 50%).
  • The lesion is a small round or oval radiolucency, surrounding the apex of a non vital tooth, with or without well-circumscribed borders.
  • The lesion consists of endothelial cells, capillaries, new fibroblasts, a small amount of collagen, chronic inflammatory cells, lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages.
