Pericoronitis .

  •  Pericoronitis is an infection of the soft tissues surrounding the crown of a partially erupted tooth, most commonly affecting the lower third molars.
  • Symptoms: It can cause pain, swelling, and sometimes difficulty in mouth opening  or in swallowing, due to the infection.
  • Radiographic Findings: In chronic cases, a radiolucency with a radiopaque border can be observed distal to the partially erupted tooth. The diameter of this radiolucency is usually less than 5 mm.
